From hair and makeup myths to timeline tips, we’ve heard it all and want to share the best advice with you! Read on to hear how you can play the most helpful part throughout all the wedding day festivities.

The Biggest Myths of Wedding Hair and Makeup

We have all heard “dirty hair is better” when it comes to styling and updos! The truth is slightly dirty hair with product in it is best – this means one to two-day old hair is great. NOT week-old or oily hair. We can always make cleaner hair look and feel more textured with products while styling, but we can’t make really dirty hair look less greasy and clean. We suggest washing it the night before, and blow-drying your hair completely dry with a styling product if you have one that you like to use such as a mousse for volume. Help us help you! When in doubt - Cleaner hair is better hair for us to work with.

Last Minute Add Ons

While it may seem easy to just “squeeze in” an extra hair or makeup service on the wedding day, it’s not as easy as you’d think!! If a guest would like to add a last minute service on the day of the wedding, it is up to the discretion of the artists on site as it is dependent on the flow of the day and timing. A service may only be added on after services from the finalized timeline and contract have been completed first. Our artists may need to get home to babysitters or have a long drive home, so adding on a last minute service isn’t always ideal. It’s best to reach out via email the week of the wedding if you’re looking to add something on rather than springing it on your artist the day of the wedding, but we also understand if a last minute emergency happens.

Another note  - make sure everyone comes prepared and don’t let anyone not receiving a service rely on us! We do not provide any products, bobby pins, supplies, etc for anyone within your bridal party who is not receiving a service via your Tease to Please Artists! This is a liability for our artists and for any guest that has not agreed to our contract or paid for a service where they have agreed to the terms of service. Our artists also pay for their own products and oftentimes when someone asks to borrow hairspray or bobby pins it takes away from their pay (and we get the expensive bobby pins!). We prefer that your guests that are not receiving hair and makeup services come prepared with their own products out of respect for our artists.

What Your Wedding Hair and Makeup Team Wants You to Know

It is essential that there is plenty of space to accommodate the size of the team being sent out for your bridal party. Our artists will each need space to set up their products and access to an outlet for hot tools or lighting. Consider the size of your getting ready space and if there is enough room for all of your artists to comfortably work. This helps us to ensure we can effectively execute all services in a timely and professional manner.

It should also be noted that we do charge a fee for any head of hair that is still wet! Our artists don’t expect dry hair and don’t have the time allocated in their timeline to dry hair before styling. Please make sure when prepping your bride tribe to communicate this, especially if anyone plans on washing their hair in the morning prior to their service. We would highly recommend that they use a dryer versus letting it air dry. This is outlined in your Tease to Please Hair and Makeup bridal contract for your reference.

We love any and all things glam, correcting any skin tones or skin discolorations and styling all the thick-haired beauties when it comes to our brides and bridal parties, BUT it can take longer to execute these types of clients vs your typical client! Please check with your party and let us know so we can make the necessary adjustments to your timeline to make sure the day-of runs smoothly. One or two thick haired girls won’t be a problem, but if your entire bridal party has hair past their waist or you have someone with a large spot of hyper-pigmentation, it might be worth mentioning.

Ensure the Day is Free of Avoidable Time Constraints

Please check with your venue and or wedding planner to see if you will have to wait until the day of your ceremony for a rehearsal. It is important to know that we will not stop hair and makeup services for a rehearsal. We can arrange the timeline to have members not attending the rehearsal in our chair during the timeline or you can ask a couple of people to miss rehearsal and be filled in later! Please do not schedule any bridal party photos during the timeline that is provided and agreed upon prior to the day of your services. We can not stop services for any of these photos as we can not guarantee the timeline and we want you as well as your entire bridal party to feel confident and look their best for any of these fun photo ops.Unfortunately, that isn't possible with only some girls’ services completed and others’ still in progress. We want to serve you to the best of our ability and we believe that this is one of those ways, especially knowing that you are investing in your photographer! When it comes to getting dress photos for the bride, if you would like to be finished before your bridal party for a first look, please let us know during the booking process so that we can make sure you have enough time. Please make sure that your photographer has a copy of the finalized timeline for our day of services, or that you have consulted with your photographer so that we can make any necessary adjustments to your timeline! This will eliminate any confusion on the day-of your wedding while servicing you with the best experience possible! Of course, if you have any questions - we’re just an email away!
